John,
Yesterday, I voted NO on Republicans’ harmful budget reconciliation bill, which passed through the House of Representatives.
They’re betraying our families, giving a $5.5 trillion handout to the rich and corporations while cutting more than $1 trillion from life-saving programs including Medicaid and SNAP. This will kick tens of millions of Americans off their healthcare, food assistance, and energy assistance.
Cutting off essential services is a form of violence: If this budget passes the Senate, thousands of Americans will needlessly die. Already, most Americans live paycheck to paycheck, and many are struggling to put food on the table and pay their bills.
Instead of investing in our communities’ needs, Republicans’ anti-life budget would spend hundreds of billions of dollars more on war, deportations, and immigration detention.
This is an outrage. I’m fighting back, and I’m hoping you’ll join me. Will you chip into my campaign today to resist this administration and fight back against the Billionaire Budget?
I will keep pushing to block this bill from being signed into law, as it now heads to the Senate. And I’ll keep leading the fight in Congress to cut military and ICE funding and instead invest in human rights like utilities and healthcare.
We live in the richest country in the world, with the resources to guarantee all Americans what they need to thrive. But we have some of the highest poverty rates among advanced democracies—because poverty is a policy choice.
I’m leading legislation to end poverty by sending money directly to unhoused youth and to all families with children, and pushing to end medical debt.
I promise I will not waver in the fight for marginalized and working class people. I never take money from corporate PACs, and I never will.
Will you chip into my campaign today to fight for our communities?
If passed as-is, this Billionaire Budget will cut off utility assistance to lower-income Americans, cut environmental justice and clean energy funding, weaken crucial environmental protections, and take away opportunities for people to object to corporate polluter projects that are decimating our planet and making our families sick.
As a community activist and lawmaker, I’ve fought for years for the human right to drink clean water and breathe clean air. I will keep fighting for environmental justice.
I’ve passed legislation through the House of Representatives to stop water and power shutoffs, and secured more than $1.1 billion in federal funding to assist lower-income households in paying off their water bills and reconnection fees.
I’ve also introduced transformative legislation to address environmental racism, limit harmful emissions, empower frontline communities most impacted by pollution and climate change, and hold corporate polluters accountable.
I will not back down in the fight for a humane and just immigration system rooted in dignity, with real pathways to citizenship.
As a former immigration attorney now serving in Congress, I’ve introduced legislation to release people from ICE detention, and to protect immigrant families by ensuring due process in immigration removal proceedings. Our movement is building to protect the right to due process and free speech for all.
Together, we will continue pushing for a true democracy that puts people over profits, and a liberated future where everyone can thrive. We’re up against powerful people, but there are so many more of us. Major change has only happened when the people come together.
Together we have power.
Can you chip in today to carry on the urgent fight for our rights and our lives?
