Dear Illinois Republican Family,

President Trump’s Big, Beautiful Bill passed the House of Representatives with the unwavering support of Illinois Republicans. A big thank you to Congressman Darin LaHood, Congressman Mike Bost, and Congresswoman Mary Miller for their leadership. This landmark legislation locks in key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and delivers permanent tax relief for working families, small business owners, seniors, and farmers across our state. Make no mistake, this is a win for Illinois families.

In stark contrast, every single House Democrat stood in opposition to the largest middle-and working-class tax cut in American history – further proof that they are not serious about lowering taxes, reining in reckless spending, securing our border, unleashing American energy, or making government work for the hardworking families of Illinois. Here's some of what Democrats voted against:

  • A 15% tax cut for those earning between $30,000 and $80,000

  • Increased take-home pay—up to $13,000 per family

  • Elimination of taxes on tips and overtime, saving workers up to $1,750 per year

  • Tax relief on Social Security and American-made auto loans

  • A projected 5% boost to U.S. economic growth

Democrats also voted against securing our borders by rejecting provisions that:

  • Fund the largest immigration enforcement effort in history

  • Support the removal of over one million illegal immigrants annually

  • Invest in Trump’s border wall, technology, and bonuses for Border Patrol and ICE agents

When it comes to healthcare, Democrats opposed efforts to protect and reform Medicaid—choosing instead to preserve taxpayer-funded benefits for 1.4 million illegal immigrants, despite billions in improper Medicaid payments.

They turned their backs on fiscal responsibility, voting against the biggest deficit reduction package in nearly 30 years—totaling $1.6 trillion in savings—and continued to support wasteful spending like the Green New Deal. On economic growth, they rejected incentives to revitalize American manufacturing, lower domestic business taxes, and create millions of jobs.

On energy, Democrats voted to uphold the Biden-era regulations that drove up prices, harmed American energy workers, and made us more reliant on foreign resources. They even voted against measures to strengthen our national defense—including upgrades to our military, air traffic control systems, and maritime infrastructure needed to protect American lives and interests. And finally, Democrats rejected provisions that would have ended taxpayer funding for harmful medical procedures on children, and prioritized American citizens over those in the country illegally.

Bottom line: Every Illinois Democrat in the House—Jonathan Jackson, Robin Kelly, Delia Ramirez, Chuy García, Mike Quigley, Sean Casten, Danny Davis, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Jan Schakowsky, Brad Schneider, Bill Foster, Nikki Budzinski, Lauren Underwood, and Eric Sorensen—voted to raise your taxes and block these historic reforms.

We are proud to stand with President Trump and Republican leadership in delivering real results for Illinois families—and we will continue fighting to protect your freedom, your paycheck, and your future.

A heartfelt thank you to RNC Chairman Michael Whatley for visiting Illinois and serving as the keynote speaker at the Tazewell & Peoria County Lincoln Day Dinner. Being a Republican in Illinois isn't always easy, but Chairman Whatley delivered an encouraging message: stay the course, get out the vote, and protect the vote. Chairman Whatley emphasized that many of the strategies used to secure victories in the 2024 Presidential, House, and Senate races can also be applied at the local level. His message was clear: “Great candidates running great races, getting out the vote, and protecting the ballot.” As he put it, “We need to win here."
