Friend,
I’ve often said, as an out lesbian candidate, that providing a beacon of hope to young LGBTQ+ individuals is one of my proudest accomplishments in my run for office.

Today, the Supreme Court ruled that no one can be fired for their sexual orientation or gender identity— a long overdue, landmark step towards full equality under the law for LGBTQ people.

I knew from a young age that I was a Lesbian, but I never imagined the progress that would happen during my lifetime. There is still much work to do, but today we should celebrate this hard fought victory and huge step forward for equality.

As we mark this moment, let’s also not rest until all of our brothers and sisters of color can share in a broader recognition of dignity, equality, and equity, and justice.

Happy Pride Month,
