We need a health care solution that puts power back in your hands.

Hello John,

Is the hard work starting to pay off?

For the last several weeks, my colleagues and I have been barnstorming the
U.S. House of Representatives to convince Republican lawmakers to improve the
American health care system using a process called “budget reconciliation.”

The reconciliation process has one big advantage over the normal legislative
process: It only requires a simple majority (51 votes) to overcome a Senate
filibuster, not the usual 60 votes. As a result, it offers a rare opportunity
to make legislative progress on health care.

We are pleased to report that the reconciliation bill passed by the House
includes several major wins on issues that we’ve been pushingas part of our
Personal Option health care plan
<[link removed]>
. These include:

* Increasing the number of Americans who may have a tax-advantaged health
savings account, specifically making 20 million more Americans eligible on top
of the 40 million who already enjoy an HSA — a major step toward “HSAs for
all.”
* Limiting Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) subsidies only to U.S. citizens
and lawful residents, closing a loophole that currently allows certain
noncitizens to receive ACA premium tax credits.
* Removing a major barrier to direct primary care, enabling millions of
Americans to cut out the insurance middleman and obtain direct access to
doctors they trust.
* Codifying CHOICE plans, a voucher-like option that lets workers use pre-tax
dollars from their employer to buy personally owned health insurance that they
can take from job to job.
This bill represents meaningful progress toward a more personalized health
care system with more competition and lower prices for all, and we are
encouraged by its contents.

But let’s not stop here.

We can make the bill even better before it gets to the president’s desk. We
will continue working in the halls of Congress to ensure we don’t let this
historic opportunity pass!

Of course, these good changes aren’t a done deal. There’s still a long way to
go in the reconciliation process, and we could end up in a very different place.
We’re up against some powerful corporate interests who want to protect their
bottom line.

That’s why we need your continued support! Please sign our petition supporting
a Personal Option.

Why sign?

It makes a difference when we can show members of Congress how much support we
have for a health care system that funds patients and families, not the system.
Your input matters!
