Run for Something

Hi John --

Folks have been asking me about how candidate recruitment is going right now, and the news is good: In the three weeks since protests began, more people have signed up to run for local office than over the six weeks prior. And even better, more people have signed up to run for office in the first half of 2020 than did in all of 2017.

Every single person who signs up to learn more about running for something is given the chance to talk to an RFS staffer or volunteer about which problem they want to solve in their community and which office aligns with that goal. We help candidates navigate the tedious process of getting on the ballot -- which differs from state to state -- and connect them with mentors, partner organizations, and more.

Our theory of change is simple: the more young progressives running, the better. More than once, we've had multiple candidates running for the same seat. If you're young, connected to your community, and passionate about making things better, we want to give you the boost you need to reach voters, and the rest is up to them.

We're a little behind in fundraising due to the COVID-19 crisis, so I'm asking you: Today, can you make a donation to put more young progressives in office? Any gift made today will be 100% matched by a generous donor.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

If you can't contribute right now, we completely understand. Thank you for being part of this team -- we're so grateful to have you.

Stay safe,

Amanda
