Good morning!
Session officially adjourned on Monday, and while working groups have continued to meet, it's important to be clear about where things stand. Any bill that was not passed before adjournment has to be reintroduced and go through the full legislative process again. We are essentially starting from scratch on all unfinished legislation. Nothing is final until a bill passes both chambers and is signed into law.
We did successfully pass seven bills before the deadline. That was meaningful progress, but about twelve more remain unresolved. Work has continued this week to negotiate and finalize those bills, but we were not able to hold a special session as originally hoped. Discussions are ongoing, and there is a possibility we may reconvene sometime next week. That decision will depend entirely on when the remaining bills are ready.
As we move forward, our priorities remain consistent. We are committed to passing a responsible budget that does not include tax increases. We are focused on protecting funding for vulnerable Minnesotans, including seniors who rely on essential services and care. We are also working to maintain support for nonpublic pupil aid, to ensure families continue to have options when it comes to their children’s education.
These priorities reflect our commitment to fiscal responsibility, protecting those in need, and supporting education choice. We will continue to advocate for these principles and will provide updates as progress continues.
Happy Memorial Day
As we head into the weekend, I want to wish you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. While it’s often seen as the unofficial start of summer, it’s also a time to pause and reflect on the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have served in our armed forces. The freedoms we enjoy today were secured by their courage and commitment. Thank you to all who have served.

Congratulations to all students who are graduating this weekend! It is an exciting time of year marked by accomplishment, reflection, and change. I wish you all the best as you move onto your next phase of life.
