House Republicans just forced through their budget bill in the cover of night.

This legislation will rip health care away from 14 million Americans, take hundreds of millions of dollars away from food assistance programs that thousands in my district depend on to get by, cut Medicaid and Medicare, remove protections for the environment, and grow the national debt by trillions.

It’s shameful.

Not only that, but Republicans snuck disturbing provisions into this bill that would defund Planned Parenthood and bar those on Affordable Care Act plans from covering for the cost of an abortion – even if they pay for their health care from their own pockets.

There is no area left untouched by this disastrous bill – it takes protections away from seniors and children and makes life harder for working families. It makes one thing clear: Republicans are more interested in giving billionaires untold millions in tax breaks than doing right by their communities who are struggling to make ends meet.

I came to Congress to solve problems, cut costs for everyday living, and grow jobs – this bill takes us in the wrong direction.

I want you to know that I’m continuing to fight back in Congress, because CA-27 and all Americans deserve better than this Republican majority.
