Dear John,
I’m writing to you today with an urgent call to action and prayer.
For more than 75 years, Camp IdRaHaJe—a name drawn from the cherished hymn “I’d Rather Have Jesus”—has faithfully served Colorado families, welcoming thousands of children each year into a Christ-centered environment where the Gospel is proclaimed and lives are transformed.
Now, this treasured ministry is under assault.
The Colorado Department of Early Childhood has issued new licensing mandates that compel all children’s resident camps—including IdRaHaJe—to allow campers to use showers, dressing areas, and sleeping quarters based on gender identity, not biological sex. Camp IdRaHaJe, rooted in biblical truth about human sexuality, cannot comply with these demands without betraying its mission.
The camp sought a religious exemption. The state denied it. Faced with an impossible choice—abandon its faith or face shutdown—Camp IdRaHaJe, represented by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), has filed a federal lawsuit.
As ADF rightly points out, “The government has no place telling religious summer camps that it’s ‘lights out’ for upholding their beliefs.” This isn’t just about one camp—it’s about every Christian institution that dares to live according to the Word of God.
Let’s be clear: forcing girls to share private facilities with biological males is not compassion—it is cruelty, and it is unconstitutional. This policy does not promote safety or inclusion. It imposes a dangerous agenda on vulnerable children and punishes those who uphold biblical truth.
These are the same people who punished Jack Phillips and targeted Lorie Smith, only to be rebuked by the United States Supreme Court. Colorado leadership has a track record of hostility toward people of faith, and this case is just the latest example.
Yet Camp IdRaHaJe has chosen courage. Despite threats of fines and license revocation, they have decided to continue operating in alignment with their faith. That is boldness we must support.
Now is the time for the Body of Christ to rise.
Let’s flood the heavens with prayer, and let’s stand publicly in defense of Camp IdRaHaJe. We urge every believer in Colorado and beyond to rally behind this camp. Contact your state leaders. Spread the word. If this overreach is allowed to stand, no Christian ministry is safe. If you can provide financial support to ADF for this case.
This is our moment to act. Let’s show that we will not bow to the idol of state-imposed ideology.
