The White House actually admitted that they are looking into suspending habeas corpus. If this is allowed to move forward, Donald Trump could arrest anyone and imprison them indefinitely without charges or a trial. This is pure insanity.
It’s hard to believe this is an actual conversation that we’re having in our country. This administration is trampling all over the fundamental values that have made this country a beacon of freedom in the world. They want nothing more than to turn Donald Trump into a king who can do as he pleases – including disappearing people off the streets and denying them the constitutional right to due process.
Meanwhile, just this week, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem was unable to correctly define habeas corpus in a Senate hearing, falsely referring to it as the president’s constitutional right to remove people from the country. Utterly insane.
John, shit like this is one of the main reasons I am so fired up about the work we’re doing at Leaders We Deserve.
