Earlier this week, I warned you about a proposal that’d make historic cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
This morning, that bill was passed by the House of Representatives. Now, the largest SNAP cut in history is heading to the Senate.
If made law, these changes could slash SNAP benefits for 11 million people, including 4 million children – all while families are spending more income on groceries than they have in three decades.
REDUCED BENEFITS: The average daily SNAP benefit is just $6.20 per person. This proposal would prevent increases in the future even as prices continue to rise.
STATE EXPENSES: Cash-strapped states would be burdened with the cost of SNAP, leaving major funding gaps.
RESTRICTED ACCESS: Stricter eligibility requirements would block struggling families from receiving support.
Kids need your voice and your compassionate support. Your donation will help hold lawmakers – from the White House to state houses – accountable to children’s needs. Please donate today – even $5 can make a difference!
