Dear Friend of Press Freedom,
You’re invited to “Burn after reporting: Leak investigations and the press ([link removed]) ,” a remote webinar event with Freedom of the Press Foundation (FPF) on Wednesday, May 28, about government investigations into leaks and the impacts on journalists and their sources.
RSVP NOW ([link removed])
Trevor Timm, our executive director and moderator, will be joined by:
* James Risen, Pulitzer Prize winner, best-selling author, and former New York Times reporter
* Ryan Lizza, founder and editor of Telos.news and former chief Washington correspondent for Politico
* Lauren Harper, the Daniel Ellsberg chair on government secrecy at Freedom of the Press Foundation
Officials at the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Office of the Director of National Security have all announced leak investigations, while the Department of Justice recently rolled back its internal policy protecting journalists from subpoenas.
With so many attacks coming from different directions and in quick succession, these three experts will discuss what journalists and their sources should expect and how they can protect themselves.
