Dear Neighbor,

My number one priority is your safety and with

more people dying from traffic fatalities than homicides in SF , the urgency to address street safety is considerable. That’s why I’m proud to announce that during this week’s San Francisco County Transportation Authority meeting, we voted to make District 5 the first fully daylighted district in San Francisco by March 2026!

What is daylighting?

Daylighting requires parking to be 20 feet away from crosswalks to improve visibility at intersections—making streets safer for everyone. It’s a proven safety measure: in Hoboken, New Jersey, daylighting helped reduce pedestrian injuries and contributed to zero traffic deaths over seven years.

Right now, many intersections in District 5 don’t meet state standards—they’re only marked at 10 feet. This funding will help bring us into compliance by completing the demarcation to 20 ft at every intersection, and move us closer to our Vision Zero goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries.

Neighborhood Transportation Program

Earlier this month, my office introduced a survey to help us decide how to spend nearly $700,000 in Neighborhood Transportation Program (NTP) funds from the San Francisco County Transportation Authority. With street safety in our district is a top priority for my office and I’d like you to be a part of the decision-making process on how to spend District 5's NTP funds!

To ensure we get the most comprehensive feedback possible, we now have the survey in multiple languages. Be sure to check out and share the Spanish and Chinese surveys below:

Community Commendation

Commendation: Caryl Ito
In observance of AAPI Heritage Month, this week I had the honor of presenting Caryl Ito with a commendation on behalf of the Board of Supervisors in recognition of her impact on civic life in San Francisco.

Caryl is known for her lifelong dedication to women's rights, advocacy in Japantown, mentorship to generations of leaders, and steadfast commitment to civic engagement and neighborhood empowerment. We are fortunate to have Caryl's incredible leadership in our city!

I know I’ve only been in office for 5 months and some of you may still be getting to know me, so I’d like to invite you to watch SFGovTV’s segment

Small Wins, Big Impact

Win of the Week: Splatter Be Gone!

This week, the iconic corner of Haight & Ashbury got a much-needed refresh. After Bruce from Roberts Hardware raised the alarm about a rogue paint splatter situation, our office looped in DPW—and now the northwest corner is sparkling clean and photo-op ready. Just in time for the Counter Culture Museum’s debut and the summer tourist season!

A major thank you to the neighbors who keep this iconic corner shining as bright as its history.
