I’m getting in touch with you today to remember and honor the late Representative Gerry Connolly, who served the good people of VA-11 just one district over. He was a role model and mentor to me in Congress and on the Oversight Committee, where we linked arms to hold government accountable to its citizens.
JOhn, it would be difficult to overstate Gerry’s devotion to public service. From serving on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors from 1995-2009, to 16 years advocating for Virginians in the House of Representatives, he was a true statesman who took pride in giving back to his community.
He leaves behind a legacy that we can feel every day, from the development of the Silver Line to protections for the Chesapeake Bay. His tenacity, compassion, and vision will always stay with me – and my promise to you is that I will continue to uphold these values we share as I keep fighting for Virginia in Congress.
