I have been fiercely committed to protecting and expanding voting rights for as long as I can remember. When the Supreme Court dismantled key components of the Voting Rights Act in 2013, they sent the fundamental right to vote backwards decades.

Now, further efforts to annihilate the remaining pillars of this foundational law are being brought to the highest courts in states across the country.

All the while, Donald Trump - a fierce anti-democratic force - directs the Justice Department to rip away resources from voting rights enforcement and instead focuses on overblown instances of fraud.

The threat to our democracy is clear as day.
