Dear John,
Did you see Britney’s last email? Either way, I wanted to give you an update on where the POWER Act [[link removed]] is now.
As of last week, the POWER Act (HB 3546) passed out of its committee and into the Senate! As this bill moves onto the Senate floor, your senator needs to hear from you on the importance of this bill, and why their constituents care so much about it. [Name], would you take a second to send your message in support of the POWER Act [[link removed]]?

Your voice is powerful and it’s time to put on the pressure to get this bill passed to protect yourself and your fellow Oregonians from the demand that large energy users, like data centers, are putting on our energy system!
Thank you for your support,
Eliza Walton (she/they)

Dear John,
Today, I was in the state Capitol, speaking to lawmakers and advocating for our priority Energy Affordability & Utility Accountability bills. One of these bills that needs your support is the POWER Act (HB 3546 A [[link removed]]). We’re coming up on another set of important deadlines in this legislative session, and right now the POWER Act needs your support to progress. Will you send your senator a message today to give the POWER Act some power to pass this important deadline [[link removed]]?

I’m sure you’ve noticed your energy bills increasing in recent years. Did you know that one of the reasons for this increase is the energy demand that large energy users like data centers are putting on the system? Yes, large energy users are adding to your energy costs!
Even though large energy users are using more energy, they are paying less for their energy than Oregon households and businesses. The POWER Act, championed by Representative Marsh, is here to tackle the growing demand and rising cost for energy across the state. The POWER Act will hold large energy users accountable for the energy they use by instating policies that create a different category of customer for data centers, cryptocurrency, and other big tech, to ensure that they are paying their fair share without burdening other average users, like households and small businesses.
The POWER Act is here to protect Oregonians from rising utility costs. But it may not get the chance to do so if it is not scheduled for a work session before the upcoming deadline on Friday, May 9th. That’s why your senator needs to hear from you on why this bill is so important to you. Give some power to the POWER Act now [[link removed]]!
