Just like you, we are horrified by the horrors being inflicted on people in Gaza by Israel. We believe that silence is complicity. As European Greens we are demanding that the Israeli government be held accountable for what amount to war crimes, and that sanctions are imposed.

🗳️ Key elections from Romania to Croatia
🇪🇺 Our vision for a stronger, greener, freer Europe
We’re not just witnessing history. We’re shaping it – together.
We call for immediate EU sanctions on the Israeli government.
The use of starvation as a weapon of war, the relentless bombardment, the deliberate targeting of civilians, and the systematic destruction of vital infrastructure constitute grave violations of international law.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must be held accountable for what amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
We welcome that finally EU has decided to review the EU-Israel Association Agreement, and some governments are moving, but this is too little too late. Europe must use all the leverages it has to stop the catastrophe in Gaza.
We demand the suspension of the Association Agreement and an arms embargo.
🏳️🌈 From Brussels to Budapest, with love.
You can’t silence a rainbow!
Greens from all over Europe, including Belgium and Hungary, marched together during Brussels Pride last Saturday! We invited Mayor of Budapest, Gergely Karácsony, to join us on the streets of Brussels to share our message: none of us is free, until we are all free.
🪧 Pride has always been a protest. Yet the Hungarian government is trying to take away this right.
📢 This is our message to queer people in Hungary: we stand with you. We will be sending a large delegation to march in Budapest on 28 June.
🇵🇹 Congratulations to our member parties in Portugal
They led inspiring campaigns for re-election to the Portuguese Parliament,
We are delighted that LIVRE achieved their best results yet and grew their representation from 4 to 6 seats in the Parliament. Congrats also to PAN who managed to maintain the seat of party leader Ines Sousa.
The political situation in Portugal and overall result has provoked grave concern as Portugal has turned further to the right.
Progressives must now present an alternative vision for Portuguese people and rebuild.
🇷🇴 Pro-European forces win in Romania
Congratulations to Nicușor Dan on his election as President of Romania!
🇪🇺 This is a win for the European project & a defeat for the far-right populist movement. The voters showed that they want to protect their future, defend democracy & keep Romania at the heart of Europe.
He won thanks to the huge mobilisation of millions of Romanians and to the support of many, including Green MEP Nicu eȘtefănuță.
🇭🇷 Local Elections in Croatia
Congratulations to Tomislav Tomašević from our member party, Možemo, who came out on top in this first round of elections, in his bid to be reelected as Mayor of Zagreb with 47.6%.
This incredible result follows four years of successful Green administration and leadership in the previous mandate. All will be decided when voters return to the polls on Sunday 1 June in the second round!
Možemo achieved good advances throughout the country, becoming a stronger, more relevant partner than ever before.
🌻 European Greens Reflection Day
International secretaries of Green parties in Europe gathered in Brussels to exchange on the current situation and to discuss European Green’s plans for the future.
We discussed the challenges and opportunities that our political movement is facing and evaluated the current state of play of the Greens and how to advocate for our core values.
🇪🇺 Our Europe – we have never needed it more
The European project was, and still is, the greatest antidote to nationalism and tyranny that our continent ever created.
Never have we needed it more. But our Europe will be stronger, more united, greener and more democratic.
🗓️Eighty years ago, Europe rose from the ashes of war, hatred and fascism to defend peace, democracy and solidarity.
But today, the European Union is facing new threats, from the outside and from the inside, from those who would dismantle this project and undermine the very values it was created to defend.
Putin, Trump, Orbán, Erdoğan, Netanyahu fear nothing more than a united Europe that stands for freedom, democracy, equality, sustainability & human rights.
Now, it is our turn to resist and take this peace project further.
This is our Europe. Let’s build it: federal, free, green, and democratic. Together.
European Greens welcomed a group of students from Serbia who ran from Novi Sad all the way to Brussels. They called out the lack of action from the government, despite protests that have been ongoing for more than six months.
What started as demand for justice, grew into a mass mobilization for functioning institutions and against democratic backsliding. We met with them the next day to express our support and discuss their future plans.
🇷🇸 This is an act of resilience.
✊ This is a show of hope.
We join the students’ call for justice and say loudly and clearly that Serbia belongs in Europe.
Green Culture Ministers Meeting
Ahead of the EU Education, Youth, Culture and Sports Council on the 12 – 13 May, we hosted a meeting of Green Culture Ministers, from the EGP as well as representatives of the Greens/EFA.
We co-organised the meeting with Spanish Minister of Culture Ernest Urtasun. We discussed how Greens in government and in the European Parliament can support the cultural sector.

Pride is a protest. Pride is power. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ MEPs Kim and Rasmus get real about why Pride still matters, from Brussels to Budapest.
Every day, millions of animals suffer in Europe because our laws aren't strong enough to protect them. Where the European Commission has lacked ambition, we need our Green Members of the European Parliament to push for stronger regulations and make animal welfare a top priority. As the Young European Greens, we are joining 10 animal rights organisations in calling our MEPs to sign the pledge Uncage The Law for more ambitious legislation on breeding, slaughter and labelling regulations. One email can protect billions, will you send it?
