Religious Freedom Is Under Fire. Here’s What You Need to Know.
Every day, people of faith are facing growing challenges to live out their beliefs freely and publicly. At Pacific Justice Institute, we are tracking these threats closely and taking bold legal action to defend religious liberty across the country. This month, we want to highlight three pressing issues that demand prayer, awareness, and action.
1. Gender Ideology in K–12 Classrooms
School districts in multiple states are introducing LGBTQ and gender identity lessons to students as young as five years old. Parents are often left in the dark or silenced when they express concern. These teachings undermine biblical truth and confuse young minds about who they were created to be.
What PJI Is Doing:
We are representing parents and teachers who have been punished for standing up. In California, Oregon, and beyond, our attorneys are challenging school policies that violate parental rights and freedom of speech. We are also drafting policy guidance for school boards that want to protect family values.
2. Abortion Pills and the Erosion of State Laws
The Supreme Court recently upheld access to abortion pills, even in states with strong pro-life protections. This decision opens the door for abortion providers to bypass local laws, putting women at risk and ignoring state authority.
What PJI Is Doing:
We are defending Christian medical professionals and pro-life organizations that are being targeted for refusing to participate in or refer for abortion pill access. PJI is also submitting legal briefs in states where pro-life laws are under attack and equipping pregnancy centers with legal support.
3. Cultural Pressure to Abandon Biblical Convictions
Christians are increasingly being told to stay silent about their beliefs. Whether it is a student sharing Scripture, a teacher refusing to use preferred pronouns, or an employee standing for biblical marriage, the cultural pressure to compromise is growing.
What PJI Is Doing:
We are defending people of faith across the country who are facing discipline, cancellation, or termination for living out their faith. From corporate boardrooms to classrooms, PJI is standing firm and equipping believers with the tools they need to remain faithful.
