Hey there,
In the last year, we’ve seen the alarming evolution of a mass disenfranchisement bill known as the SAVE Act. Here’s an overview:
May 2024: Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) introduced the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to the House of Representatives.
⏬⏬⏬
July 2024: It passed in the House for the first time.
⏬⏬⏬
January 2025: Texas Rep. Chip Roy reintroduced the SAVE Act in the House of Representatives, with Donald Trump eager to sign it into law.
⏬⏬⏬
April 2025: The SAVE Act passed the House of Representatives again.
Now, in May 2025, we’re seeing new movement on the SAVE Act. On Tuesday afternoon, Senator Mike Lee requested unanimous consent on the Senate floor to fast-track the SAVE ACT — a blatant effort to advance legislation that has the potential to disenfranchise millions of Americans, without hearing any arguments or concerns against it.
But Senator Alex Padilla objected to Lee's request, and when even just one senator objects, unanimous consent fails. So as of now, the SAVE Act is still pending in the Senate, and it could come forward again at any moment.
It’s clear: The attacks on fair and free elections are here to stay. We have to be ready for the SAVE Act’s supporters to try to ram it through as swiftly as possible. And we know that anti-voter extremists will keep attacking our basic freedoms.
That’s why we’re continuing to build our volunteer base. Whether they’re helping with on-the-ground outreach, making calls, or conducting research, our volunteers are crucial to our work.

We’re calling the SAVE Act what it is: an attempt to legalize voter suppression. And although the SAVE Act hasn’t been passed in the Senate yet, states across the country have had bills similar to the SAVE Act introduced on the state level.
In Wyoming, a bill would require anyone registering to vote to present documentary proof of U.S. citizenship.
In Texas, legislation would create proof of citizenship requirements for both new voter registration applicants and existing registered voters. It would even create new criminal penalties for election officials if an error is made during the citizen verification process.
In Ohio, different bills would require documentary proof of citizenship and ban ballot drop boxes. One of the bills would require everyone to vote via provisional ballot until their citizenship is verified, and mandates that those who are forced to vote provisionally for ANY reason and fail to follow up “timely” with accepted documentation would have their voter registration automatically CANCELED.
So you see friend, the agenda behind the SAVE Act is making its rounds on the state AND federal level. What we’re seeing is a coordinated effort to strip our democracy apart and take away our freedom to vote.
That’s why it’s so important that we are in a position to fight back — with volunteers on standby, ready to jump into the action at any moment.
