John,
The House of Representatives is preparing to vote today or tomorrow on a devastating $5.5 trillion tax giveaway, mostly for the rich and big corporations. And they plan to pay for it by ripping food off families’ tables and healthcare away from millions of seniors, children, and people with disabilities.[1]
And here’s the kicker: America’s 800+ billionaires are on track to hit a staggering $7 trillion in combined wealth, potentially as soon as this week. Just as their fortunes reach an all-time high, House Republicans are moving to lock in even more tax cuts for them. It’s no coincidence. While working families are asked to sacrifice, the wealthiest individuals in the country are cashing in again.
Let’s be clear about who benefits. Millionaires would get an average $90,000 tax break. The 400 richest Americans would rake in $800 million a year. Giant corporations like Amazon, Tesla, and Apple would split $75 billion. And wealthy business owners would pocket an average of $107,000 through expanded loopholes. Working families might get $40 or $50, if they get anything at all.
And how do they pay for it? Mostly with more debt, but also by slashing over $1 trillion from Medicaid and SNAP. And according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, the bill will also now trigger $500 billion in cuts to Medicare.[1] That means denying healthcare to vulnerable people who depend on it to survive. It means pushing families deeper into poverty. And those trillions of dollars of new debt set the stage for even more attacks on Social Security, Medicare, and education in the future. While billionaires hoard record-breaking fortunes, millions of families are left to suffer.
We’ve seen this scam before. We know exactly how it ends. And we refuse to let them get away with it again. But time is running out. We have just days left to flood Congress with outrage and stop this rigged plan in its tracks. Lawmakers need to hear from you right now.
Take action before the vote today or tomorrow. Demand Congress reject the Billionaire Budget and protect Medicaid, SNAP, and working families.
The American people are already struggling with the rising costs of food, rent, child care, and healthcare. Yet instead of delivering real relief, House Republicans are doubling down on the same failed trickle-down economics that have gutted the middle class and fueled historic inequality. They’re doing it to satisfy their billionaire donors, and they’re coming for your family to pay for it.
They’re locking in the Trump tax cuts that exploded the deficit. They’re expanding corporate loopholes that let Wall Street and mega-corporations avoid paying their fair share. And they’re selling this scam with the same tired lies about “growth” and “prosperity”—lies we’ve heard for decades, while working families are left behind.
We still have a chance to stop them. The House hasn’t voted yet, but it will soon. That’s why every voice matters. If lawmakers don’t hear from us now, they’ll only hear from billionaire lobbyists and corporate PACs cheering this scam to the finish line. We’ve beaten them before. We can do it again. But only if we act together right now.
Make your voice heard. Tell Congress to reject the $5.5 trillion billionaire tax scam and protect working families before it’s too late.
Let’s block this billionaire tax scam and protect our communities.
