We all breathed a sigh of relief when Justice Allison Riggs was finally officially certified the winner in North Carolina's Supreme Court race a couple of weeks ago. But I want to take a moment to reflect on just how important that win was.

Earlier this month, Republican challenger Jefferson Griffin finally conceded — ending his six-month-long attempt to overturn the results of November’s election and disenfranchise thousands of voters.

Griffin and his Republican allies tried everything in their power to silence us, but we didn't fall for it. We fought back.

EMILYs List stood with Justice Riggs — and the voters whose rights were under attack — every step of the way. And after six long months, we helped ensure that the will of North Carolina voters was upheld with Justice Allison Riggs officially sworn in as justice.

This outcome is proof that we DO still have power.

Just because Republicans think they can undermine democracy and sway election results in their favor doesn’t mean they'll get away with it.

Democracy prevailed — all because we didn't back down.
