Let me share a few reasons why this time will be different:
FIRST, during my first run for Senate, I was a longtime Congressman with little to no name ID. This cycle, I will be entering the race as an established candidate who earned the support of nearly 2.7 million Michiganders.
SECOND, President Trump's victory in my state was a watershed moment. Michigan was long seen as a key pillar to the “blue wall” – in other words, a state that consistently votes Democratic. We’re entering the midterms with an entirely different landscape.
THIRD, the Democrats are already running with their tail between their legs. Gary Peters, our incumbent Senator, decided he would rather quit his job than face me in a race he was sure he would lose. |
