Gaza is starving.

Farmers’ fields lie in ruins. Bakeries are shuttered. Store shelves are bare. The entire food system has crashed, and life-saving aid is still largely blocked.

People are forced to survive on a single piece of bread a day, or worse, boil weeds or eat animal feed to stay alive.

"For the first time in nearly two and a half months, aid trucks have begun to move into Gaza. But let’s be clear: it is not enough — the needs are staggering," said Regional Director Arnaud Quemin.

We must act fast — Mercy Corps is preparing to respond as soon as we’re able to do so, and your gift can make a difference. Please rush a donation now to support families in Gaza and over 40 countries worldwide.

Subject: 🚨 URGENT: Gaza’s food system has collapsed

Update:

A new report released yesterday shows that Gaza’s food system has collapsed after a two-month blockage on humanitarian aid. The hunger catastrophe affecting more than 2 million civilians has reached horrific new extremes.

Currently, the entire population of Gaza is at "critical risk of famine," and 925,000 people are on the brink of starvation.

There is no time to waste — donations are urgently needed to ensure we can ramp up distribution of lifesaving aid as soon as the borders re-open. Please rush your gift right now to help meet the extraordinary needs of families in Gaza and 40+ countries around the globe.

Across Gaza, families are in pure survival mode — hungry, exhausted, and displaced. One Mercy Corps team member described the desperation people are facing:

"People no longer care about bombs, rockets, or even death. What consumes them now is food. How to find it. How to feed their children.

"It is impossible to describe how hard life has become. People walk around in a daze, dizzy from malnutrition and despair, fainting in the street. They look like skin and bones. If you saw them, you would break down and cry."

Despite the aid blockade, Mercy Corps is currently distributing cash assistance to families in Gaza. We have had life-saving assistance waiting at the border for months due to the blockade — and as soon as the borders open our teams and partners will be able to distribute to over 160,000 and to support millions more through humanitarian partners.

You can support our lifesaving humanitarian response in Gaza and communities in crisis across the globe with an urgent gift right now.

We’ll have more updates about conditions in Gaza — and our ongoing response — in the weeks and months ahead.

Thanks for your support,

The Mercy Corps team
