Access to affordable healthcare isn’t just about well-being—it’s about economic strength. Our State of the Economy report explored a crucial connection between health and labor force participation. If people are sick, facing addiction, or struggling with mental health issues, they cannot join the workforce effectively. On the other hand, when Marylanders have the healthcare they need, they’re healthier, more productive, and better able to participate in our workforce.

STATE OF THE ECONOMY REPORT:

Thousands of Marylanders rely on Medicaid. But the current Administration and Republicans in Congress are targeting Medicaid cuts to help cover the cost of their tax bill. Such short-sighted policies would strip away coverage from those who need it and put Maryland’s economic progress at risk. These attacks hurt our community on all levels: our families, our businesses and our economy.

Strong public programs like Medicaid are investments in our state’s economic resilience. When more people are covered, our communities thrive, and small businesses can grow - because our workforce remains strong and competitive.

That’s why I’m committed to standing up for healthcare access in Maryland – to protect our workforce, support economic growth, and ensure every family has the coverage they need.

Together,

Brooke
