This Friday is Juneteenth. The celebration of 155 years since the emancipation of the last enslaved Black Americans in the confederacy. It will also mark one week since police in Atlanta killed Rayshard Brooks. Even in the midst of an uprising in response to police violence, the killings don’t stop.

The need to defund the police is crystal clear. We need to invest in community-lead safety structures that affirm and value black and brown lives. We need to dismantle structural racism and build new systems where Black lives matter.

This is a once in a generation movement moment. Can you help support it by making a contribution to the Movement for Black Lives Fund?

Best,

Jonathan Westin, NYCC
