Hi Friend, it's Ben.
Elon Musk certainly
tried to buy a Wisconsin state Supreme Court seat for Brad Schimel.
Musk tweeted on Schimel’s behalf. He blanketed Wisconsin airwaves with ads viciously attacking Judge Susan Crawford. He danced around on a Green Bay stage in a Cheesehead hat while handing out $1 million checks to voters. All told, Musk invested roughly $25 million in the failed effort to elect Brad Schimel to the state Supreme Court.
But on April 1, 2025, Wisconsinites rejected Musk’s play to take away their freedom. Susan Crawford crushed Brad Schimel by ten points to win the Supreme Court seat. Wisconsin could not be bought.
For months, Musk would not shut up about our election. BUt after April 2, he got awfully quiet. Last week, he finally spoke up, sheepishly. This headline from Politico says it all:
You did it, Wisconsin. You humbled a billionaire—for now.
Thanks to your donations, WisDems was able to spread the word across the state about Elon Musk’s gambit, and how Susan Crawford was the right candidate for Wisconsin. And we will keep the pressure on those who might try to buy future elections. Will you chip in $25 today to help fuel our efforts? »

As we gear up for the 2026 spring and midterm elections, and Trump and his cronies try to ignore the rule of law and undermine our democracy, it will be more important than ever to keep the MAGA right in check.
That’s why we need to flip red seats blue up and down the ballot in the midterms — all so we can set the stage for a blue trifecta in 2028.
Winning a blue trifecta will take the kind of year-round grassroots organizing WisDems has been doing for years. Will you chip in $25 to fuel our efforts? »
You helped beat the richest man in the world, but the fight continues. Let’s work together to win in 2026 and beyond.
Thanks so much.
