Amid unimaginable suffering, the government has paused trade talks with Israel. Now help us go further.
Yesterday the Foreign Secretary announced the suspension of trade talks with Israel. This is a step forward, which we’ve been demanding for many months. It is unconscionable that the government has been discussing closer economic ties with a country engaged in a genocide.
But they must go further. Yesterday morning a senior UN official warned that 14,000 babies could die in Gaza in the next 48 hours unless aid is allowed in. Hundreds more, including many children, have been killed in Israel’s latest rampage across Gaza in this last week, while a whole people are slowly being starved to death.
Will you ask your MP to demand sanctions on Israel?

What we are witnessing in Gaza is beyond anything I have seen in my worst nightmares. And yet our government has continued to supply arms, as well as political and economic support, to Israel even as it repeatedly carries out the most serious war crimes.
Sanctions can work. Yesterday, EU countries discussed a review of the EU-Israel trade agreement in light of the ongoing atrocities. This is a major step forward, and one that has already prompted a change, albeit completely inadequate, in Israel’s stance.
The British government must come out now and institute comprehensive sanctions. At a minimum, this must include suspension of the current UK-Israel trade agreement and a ban on settlement products entering British markets.
Ask your MP to demand sanctions on Israel:

We do not demand sanctions lightly. But this situation is as extreme as it gets. We know sanctions can work. And we know the British government has a moral and legal obligation to bring this genocide to an end.
Please tell your MP to act now.
