Let’s talk about something that should be common sense: requiring an ID to vote.

According to a recent UC Berkeley poll, 71% of Californians—including a majority of Democrats and independents—support requiring proof of citizenship when registering to vote. Whether it’s a passport, REAL ID, or other government-issued ID, voters overwhelmingly agree: our elections must be secure and credible.

But my opponent? He just voted against requiring an ID to vote. That’s right—he sided with the extreme fringe rather than the clear will of the people.

This isn’t partisan. It’s basic common sense.

If you need an ID to board a plane, buy cold medicine, or even enter some government buildings—then you should absolutely need it to cast a ballot. Voting is one of our most sacred rights, and protecting it shouldn't be controversial.

I'm going to be doing all I can to get a Voter ID initiative on the 2026 California ballot. Because our democracy works best when people have confidence in the system.

My opponent is out of touch. I’m fighting to restore trust, accountability, and sanity to our elections.

Let’s bring common sense back.
