First: Donald Trump announced sweeping new tariffs. Everyone panicked, and the stock market plunged.

Then: Trump reversed course, pausing most of the tariffs, and the markets skyrocketed. Anyone who bought the right stocks in between those two announcements was about to make a fortune — especially if they knew the reversal was coming.

Now: we’ve learned that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene made up to $300,000 in stock trades just before the market rebound. She bought shares in Amazon, Tesla, JP Morgan, Apple, and more. And while we can’t say for certain whether she had insider knowledge, she’s in Trump’s pocket and the timing couldn’t be more suspicious.

But this isn’t just about one lawmaker. It’s a major symptom of a larger problem: members of Congress are allowed to profit off information the public doesn’t have. And they’ve been doing it for years — Republicans and Democrats alike have consistently outperformed the market since 2020.

They write the rules. They regulate the industries. And too many are cashing in. It’s time for that to end.

That’s why a bipartisan coalition led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick is pushing to pass the Restoring Faith in Government Act , which would ban congressional stock trading for members, their spouses, and dependents.

This bill has broad public support, and even Donald Trump has said he’d sign it. But too many in Congress are benefiting from the system they’re supposed to reform, and they’re working overtime to stop this bill in its tracks.
