America’s Roadmap for Recovery From COVID-19
Heritage’s National Coronavirus Recovery Commission will release its final report today, offering a highly detailed roadmap for America’s physical, social, and economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. This report caps eight weeks of hard work by 17 commission members, who released 265 specific recommendations aimed at saving lives and livelihoods. U.S. Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia will be featured as the keynote speaker for the release event, sharing his vision for America’s recovery. “With more than 40 million Americans currently out of work, this report is the specific roadmap needed to guide local, state, and federal policymakers, the private sector, and communities out of this challenging time. Why Conservatives Should Be Leading the Civil Rights Movement
If you ask Heritage President Kay C. James, she’d tell you that conservatives should be leading the civil rights movement. She recently joined The Daily Signal’s “Problematic Women” podcast to explain why. In a fascinating interview, James explains why conservatives are best suited to offer solutions to the biggest issues that plague the black community. “For years, I have said that the answers to poverty, the answers to an unequal educational system in our country, the answer to access to health care, the answer to protecting our borders, all of those answers reside within the conservative movement,” James says. “When I look at those protesters that are on the street, I just want to shout at them that if you would take a minute and stop and listen to the voices coming from the conservative side of the aisle, we have real answers.” Listen or read the whole interview to find out how conservatives can lead in advancing the civil rights movement.

New Map Grades States on Key Criteria for Saving Lives and Livelihoods
The National Coronavirus Recovery Commission released an interactive map highlighting how states have implemented  five of the commission’s key recommendations to save lives and livelihoods.  So far, 34 states—68%—have completed the commission’s key recommendations. “As we evaluate states’ progress, we’re looking closely at how they hold to America’s founding principles of preserving life and liberty. It’s encouraging to see the governments at every level make data-informed, locally-driven decisions that consider both physical and economic health,” writes Kay C.
