Dear John,,

As a proud openly gay Black man and someone who loves his country, I believe that the American people deserve better than an administration who’s trying to take away our civil rights protections.

So far, the Trump administration has:

Banned diversity, equity, and inclusion
Repealed the executive order that makes discrimination illegal
Attacked amendments protecting rights to citizenship

And now, they repealed a “segregation clause” in a memo, which means the federal government no longer prohibits segregated restaurants, waiting rooms, and drinking fountains.

Frankly, this is an insult to everything that the civil rights movement has worked for. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - this country deserves unity, not division.

I have been with Democrats in Montgomery County Pennsylvania to Palm Desert, California. Talking about how we can take action from School Board races to Congressional ones.

In my career, I’ve always fought for the underdog, because I know that’s what’s right. Now, I need you to join me as we rebuild our party to take on the GOP's attack on our rights.
