Dear Friends,
I am excited to share the latest news from Congress and the work I am doing in Washington, D.C., on behalf of the 34th Congressional District of Texas.
Warm regards,

Congressman Vicente Gonzalez
Building Bridges and Strengthening Ties: Congressional Delegation to El Salvador
Earlier this month, I joined a bipartisan group of members of the El Salvador Caucus to meet with Salvadoran leadership and tour important sites in El Salvador.
It was a pleasure to be joined by Co-Chair, Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13) and former Congressman and Co-Chair, Matt Gaetz.
During this trip, we had productive conversations with President Bukele concerning the future of U.S. – El Salvador relations. I made sure to assert my concerns and inquire about whether due process and constitutional protections are being followed. As an American lawyer, upholding due process and constitutional protections is paramount.

Championing a Project Nearly Four Decades in the Making: The Raymondville Drain
Every year, Members of Congress can speak in front of committees they do not serve on to directly advocate for their home districts.
This week, I was proud to testify before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee about the importance of completing the Raymondville Drain.
Our region is increasingly prone to flooding from severe weather events. Just a few months ago, in late March, our region experienced historic rain and mass flooding. As of April 14, 2025, FEMA confirmed that over 5,000 homes were damaged or impacted from this event.
Congress must do more to effectively address the risk of severe flooding. It is critical that the Raymondville Drain, which was originally authorized for construction in 1986— 38 years ago — is finally completed.

Legislative Spotlight: Expanding Access to Emergency Health Care
I proudly re-introduced H.R. 3134, the Emergency Care Improvement Act of 2025 with fellow Texan, Congressman Jodey Arrington (TX-19). This bipartisan bill would make healthcare services more accessible by expanding Medicaid and Medicare coverage for freestanding emergency centers, or FECs.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, FECs were temporarily granted state licenses to provide the same care as hospitals. This allowed thousands of individuals to get the medical care they needed. This bill would permanently allow South Texans to benefit from 24/7 access to affordable and quality emergency medical care.
Backing the Blue: Welcoming Our Police Leaders to DC
It was my honor to welcome Weslaco Police Chief Robert Lopez and Kingsville Assistant Chief Bradley Lile to Washington, D.C. during National Police Week. Our law enforcement officers provide an invaluable service to our communities and risk their lives every day to uphold public safety.
Thank you to everyone who wears the badge!
