Hi John,
This has been a remarkable month, as so many people have stood up to confront racism and police brutality in Black communities across the country.
But this fight has far to go — and we need your voice and your participation this Friday, June 19, and over the weekend.
The Movement for Black Lives is organizing events around the country this weekend called Six Nineteen: Defend Black Lives. June 19, or Juneteenth, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. There will be marches, speakers, protests and a powerful, sustained call to end police violence and make fundamental change to protect Black communities.
Please take a moment to sign up for an event near you.

Fighting injustice and oppression has been at the core of the Center for Biological Diversity's work for more than three decades — whether it's standing up for wildlife faced with extinction, litigating for clean air and water, or halting the destruction of our public lands.
This moment, though, calls on us to stand up to protect Black communities and push for real, foundational change to end systemic racism and police brutality. Each of us has a chance to tip the scales toward justice, to rise up and be part of this critical, history-making movement.
Sign up to participate in a Six Nineteen event to defend Black lives.

We know these are complicated times, especially with the pandemic. For those who are able to participate, we urge you to wear face masks, practice social distancing, and take any other measures to stay as safe as possible.
No matter who you are or where you live, there's a role for you in this fight.
For the wild,
Kierán Suckling
Executive Director
