Dear John,

Why does it matter to you?

Our economic impact report spells out the disaster of a disorderly Brexit, on top of the Corona-recession.

We must always remember, those facts and figures will affect real people. Businesses shutting down, staff laid off and emergency services stretch to breaking - all of this will have a human cost.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. Simply by extending the transition period, we can avoid adding to our economic woes and we can handle one crisis at a time.

How are you most concerned? Are you worried about your job security in a double Brexit plus Coronavirus recession? Or are you a business owner, struggling to stay afloat? Tell your MP why extension matters to you by sending them a personalised message.

Some of you may feel messages to your MP go unanswered. But even if we are individually ignored, your MP cannot turn a blind eye to an inbox full of messages of concern from their constituents. I promise, you can make a difference.

We all have things that keep us up at night, especially during these uncertain times. The threat of leaving Europe without a deal is an added worry, another uncertain and unwelcome shadow on the horizon.

Is it something close to home, like your business or your family? Or it’s something larger: are you concerned the UK will be accepting chlorinated chicken from the USA? Or that the UK refuses to work with Europe to fight the pandemic?

What are you worried about?

Let’s give ourselves one less thing to worry about. There is no need to add another economic blow to the UK, just as we begin to recover from the Coronavirus.

Let’s tackle one crisis at a time.

Best wishes,

Cary Mitchell,
