I remember when I first ran for Congress.

It was the 2018 cycle – the first election since Trump won the White House
in 2016.

There was deep concern across the country about how we would respond and
how we would ensure that our democracy was alive and well and could still
work for people.

In that moment we saw a new generation of leaders, many from
non-traditional backgrounds, stepping up to seek public office. Voters
spoke loudly and clearly, electing the most diverse class of new members
of Congress that we had seen in our nation’s history.

I think we’re going to see a similar pattern play out in 2026. This
election is an important opportunity to pass the torch to the next
generation and keep our democracy thriving.

We need active leadership from Democrats to meet this moment. And just as
important, we need to earn back the trust of the voters that we’ve lost in
the past few elections.

This is one
of the biggest reasons I’m running for Senate. I know tough fights after
winning four times in one of America’s most competitive districts. I’m
ready to win this race and get to work in the Senate doing the big things
that we can do as a nation.

We can create the changes we all want to see like restoring reproductive
freedom, combating climate change, and ensuring healthcare is a right, not
a privilege.

But we need new leaders in the arena to help make it happen. That’s why
I’m in the fight.
