Public Notice: License Renewal Application - Energy Fuels Resources (USA) Inc., WY-SUA1597

The Energy Fuels Resources (USA) Inc of Lakewood, Colorado has applied for a renewal of its Source Material License (WYSUA-1597) from the Land Quality Division of the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality. The license area for the mining of uranium is located in:  Sections 7, 8,17,18, 20, 21, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33 and 34 of Township 43 North, Range 76 West, in Campbell and Johnson Counties, Wyoming, Sections 30 and 31 of Township 44 North, Range 75 West, in Campbell County, Wyoming and Sections 5, 6, 7, and 8 of Township 43 North, Range 75 West, in Campbell County, Wyoming.  The Nichols Ranch ISR Projects is located approximately 45 miles south, southwest of Gillette, Wyoming or approximately 22 miles west of Wright, Wyoming in the Pumpkin Buttes Mining District. This area can be found on the Dry Fork Ranch, Rolling Pin Ranch, North Butte, and Fort Reno SE, USGS quadrangle maps. The mining operation began July, 2011 and is estimated to continue until 2030. The land, after mining, will be returned to a livestock grazing, wildlife habitat, oil/gas development, and coal bed methane development.

The Department of Environmental Quality has issued a Pre-Decisional State Decision Document to approve the license renewal application. Information regarding this initial draft decision and the application may be reviewed in the Office of the Land Quality Division, Department of Environmental Quality in Cheyenne or the Johnson or Campbell County’s Clerk's Office, Buffalo or Gillette, Wyoming. A complete index sheet identifying all proposed changes is included with the renewal application available for public viewing along with the initial draft decision. Written comments or objections to the proposed license renewal must be received by the Administrator of the Land Quality Division, Department of Environmental Quality, 200 W. 17th Street, Suite 10, Cheyenne, WY 82002, before the close of business June 28, 2025. Objections may also be submitted by the same deadline via the Land Quality Division’s electronic comment portal at https://lq.wyomingdeq.commentinput.com/. Only the renewal is open for public review. If an objection specifically requests a public hearing with the Department and is found to be an aggrieved party as defined in W.S. §35-11-103(a)(vii), a public hearing shall be held after the final date for filing objections.
