Dear Georgian,

Last week, our nation recognized National Police Week. I am thankful for all of the law enforcement officers who dedicate their careers to keeping our communities safe.

In the House, we passed H.R. 2240, the Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act, and H.R. 2255, the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act.

H.R. 2240 requires the Department of Justice to collect and report data on violent attacks against law enforcement officers, including government responses and gaps in reporting, to strengthen protection for law enforcement officers.

H.R. 2255 expands law enforcement officers' access to firearms by allowing current federal law enforcement officers in good standing to purchase a retired weapon at market value from a federal agency.

I proudly supported both pieces of legislation and will continue to support our law enforcement community.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have comments or concerns to share with me, please do not hesitate to call my Warner Robins, Tifton, or Washington, D.C. offices. I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on YouTube, and follow me on X.

Keep reading for the full update.

Sincerely,

Passing the House Agriculture Committee's Portion of the Reconciliation Bill Through Committee

Last week, the House Agriculture Committee passed our portion of the reconciliation bill. Our nation is over $36 trillion in debt, but we have a duty to ensure that our farmers have the resources they need to feed and clothe America.

This legislation strengthens the farm safety net, invests in rural America, and provides significant savings for all Americans while addressing deficiencies in outdated farm policy.

Meeting with Safari Club International

Hunting is a big part of my life and a favorite pastime, and it was great to meet with Georgia-based representatives of the Safari Club International to hear their legislative priorities to help protect outdoor recreation and hunting rights.

Washington Examiner | Republicans muscle the ‘big, beautiful bill’ out of the Budget Committee

"House Republicans secured enough support to push the 'one big, beautiful' reconciliation bill out of the Budget Committee late Sunday night.

The late-night victory for Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and President Donald Trump came after GOP fiscal hawks relented due to concessions from leadership related to Medicaid and clean energy policy repeals."
