Silencers make already deadly firearms even more terrifying, friend.
Silencers make mass shootings deadlier and make it harder for people to flee. When a gunman killed twelve people in Virginia Beach, VA, in 2019, he used a silencer and survivors nearby said they couldn’t make out the rapid gunfire, preventing them from fleeing from the heinous attack.
Silencers make it harder to stop a shooting and are used in targeted, assassination-style murders. And their prevalence is only growing: The amount of registered silencers increased by a staggering 84% in the last three years.
Despite the danger posed to the American people, President Trump is trying to remove the tax on gun silencers with a hidden provision in his tax bill. Removing this tax will make it easier for people to obtain these deadly accessories, skyrocketing the already increasing number of silencers in our communities and putting lives at risk.
