Last week, I crossed over to the House side with my friends, Senators Cory Booker and Tina Smith, to sit in on the budget markup of the GOP’s latest attempt to gut Medicaid.
We showed up because this isn’t just a policy disagreement -- it’s personal. We brought stories from real people in Hawaii and across the country who rely on Medicaid: seniors, people with disabilities, pregnant women, parents, kids, and people in rural communities who need hospitals to stay open.
It’s nuts. They’re not just doing this to pay down the deficit or to spend money on something smart. They want to kick 14 million people off of their health care to enact the biggest tax cuts in American history for the wealthiest people to ever walk the earth.
It’s outrageous. It’s dangerous. And Republicans are underestimating the backlash. That’s why we need to keep showing up. Keep organizing. Keep turning up the heat.
Courage is contagious and public sentiment is a powerful tool -- we can still stop this but we need you with us. If you’re able, chip in today. Your donation helps us get louder and make sure the country understands what’s at stake.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Don’t give up. The stakes are too high and the consequences are too real.
