On Thursday evening, 38 gunshots were fired at the schoolyard of Logan Elementary School in Northwest Philadelphia. The shooting happened around 6 p.m. near a basketball court as people played.
An 18-year-old was killed, and a 17-year-old was critically injured.
This news comes at a time when the Trump administration is drastically cutting funding for community violence intervention and survivor support programs. They’re dismantling work that prevents violent retaliation and stops shootings before they happen.
We refuse to let the Trump administration’s neglect make the gun violence crisis worse. Now is the time to leverage our power at the state level to save lives.
