Dear supporters,
Call Chairman King now and ask the Texas House to advance SB 240, the Texas Women’s Privacy Act! Time is running out in the session for the Texas House to pass the Texas Women’s Privacy Act out of committee and to vote for it on the House floor! The bill needs to be voted on this week! The House version of the Texas Women’s Privacy Act had over 80 co-authors! The bill has the votes to pass but it needs to get out of committee and onto the House floor.
As a reminder, this legislation would compel local governments and schools to create and enforce a policy that would keep restrooms, locker rooms, showers, domestic violence shelters, and prisons separate based on biological sex. Without this policy many women are at risk of having their privacy violated or even physical harm.
Last week, we held a ‘Day of Action’ for the Texas Women’s Privacy Act. You can watch the press conference below. |

Watch the Press Conference Wed., May 14 at the Texas State Capitol Women’s Privacy Day of Action with supporters on our Facebook page or YouTube Channel. |
This session alone, there have been many instances at the Texas Capitol where young women have been approached by men in the women’s restrooms, including our own staff member Megan Benton. Plus, female athlete Brooke Slusser has been sharing her story of how she was coerced into showering, undressing, and rooming with a male athlete who concealed his biological sex from her and her volleyball team mates. |
