Democrats to Taxpayers: Shut Up and Keep Funding the Failure

Apparently, squandering billions of Washington state tax dollars on underperforming public schools just isn’t enough for Democrats—they also want to waste your federal tax dollars defending a failing system from accountability. Instead of fixing broken classrooms or actually educating kids, state officials like Superintendent Chris Reykdal are digging in to protect the sacred cow of DEI bureaucracy, no matter the cost—or the results.

Now that the Trump administration is daring to question whether taxpayer-funded K-12 education should be filtered through a DEI lens, Democrats in Olympia are shocked and outraged. Reykdal insists diversity is a “cornerstone” of public education—as if identity politics are more important than reading, writing, or math. And when asked for real results? He offers vague platitudes about graduation rates and how “everyone benefits” from the state’s costly social engineering.

Meanwhile, actual performance metrics are elusive, school leaders are hiding from the press, and attendance among Latino students is allegedly dropping—but don’t expect concrete data anytime soon. And rather than engage in any serious discussion about student outcomes or fiscal responsibility, the same cast of consultants and nonprofit execs are lining up to blame Republicans for daring to question the DEI status quo.

Even Democrats’ own education insiders admit the party has no vision beyond throwing more money at a bottomless pit of failed programs and calling it “equity.” So while classrooms crumble, students fall further behind, and parents get shut out, the real priority in Washington’s public schools is maintaining a bloated, ideological bureaucracy—no matter how many dollars it burns. Democrats Create the Fire, Then Take a Victory Lap for Grabbing a Hose

Democrats in Olympia finally got around to fixing one of the many messes they created—after making Washington farmers pay climate taxes they were promised they’d be exempt from in the first place. That’s right: for over a year, farmers were forced to fork over thousands thanks to the state’s convoluted, poorly-executed cap-and-trade scheme under the so-called Climate Commitment Act (CCA).

The kicker? They technically weren’t supposed to be paying those fees at all. But thanks to a byzantine rebate process that was so confusing even a math-savvy legislator couldn’t make sense of it, most farmers never got a dime back. The “solution”? Another bill—to fix the problem Democrats created with their last bill.

Now, Gov. Bob Ferguson is out on a photo-op tour, patting himself on the back for signing legislation that finally exempts farm fuel from these costly climate charges through 2029. Of course, that’s after millions in unnecessary costs were dumped on an already struggling industry, and only because Republicans like Rep. Tom Dent pushed for it relentlessly.

So yes, farmers are relieved—but let’s be clear: this wasn’t bold leadership. It was damage control. And it only happened after Democrats got caught taxing the very people they claimed they were helping. Read more at Center Square.

Free Speech for Me, But Not for Thee: Democrat Rep. Shaun Scott Caught Silencing Constituents

Socialist-Democrat State Rep. Shaun Scott got dragged into reality after getting caught unconstitutionally blocking constituents, journalists, and critics on his official legislative X account. He wasn’t silencing trolls—he was preemptively blocking anyone he thought might disagree with him. Real grown-up stuff.

After a cease-and-desist letter from a Washington voter and some well-earned public shaming on The Jason Rantz Show, Scott quietly started unblocking users—including Rantz himself—without ever explaining why he blocked them in the first place.

Legal precedent says public officials can’t treat their official social media like private echo chambers, especially when they’re pushing their legislative agendas and cheering on law-breaking, antisemitic campus occupiers from the same account. But Scott only backed down when facing a potential lawsuit, not because he suddenly found a shred of respect for the First Amendment.

Let’s be honest—this wasn’t leadership, it was damage control. Scott didn’t want to face legal consequences or public scrutiny, so he hit reverse and hoped no one would notice. Sorry, Shaun. We noticed. And so would the courts. Read more at KTTH.

Seattle’s Climate “Crisis”: Brought to You by Bad Sensors and Worse Journalism

Recently, Axios Seattle breathlessly reported that Seattle’s coldest temps are getting less cold—supposedly proof that climate change is running wild in the Pacific Northwest. The culprit? A 30-year average that Climate Central says shows a warming trend, especially in Seattle, Spokane, and Yakima.

But hold the climate panic.

UW atmospheric sciences professor Cliff Mass recently told KTTH’s Jason Rantz the data is basically cooked—thanks to things like badly placed sensors, urban heat islands, and encroaching development. Translation: we’re measuring heat from parking lots and rooftops, not the atmosphere. Mass calls the study misleading and says we’re not in any sort of weather emergency.

In fact, brace yourself—this summer in Seattle might be… totally fine.

It’s just another round of fear-based headlines from the climate-industrial complex, with a suspiciously selective view of the data and zero accountability for misleading the public. Read more at KTTH.
