friend – did you see my recent email? I’ve copied it below in case you missed it.

The global debt crisis is having a devasting impact on the world’s poorest countries – forcing governments to cut vital services to the bone.

But it doesn’t need to be that way. Debt relief could lead to 17 million people in lower-income countries gaining access to clean drinking water, and 5 million more children attending school.

This Jubilee Year, campaigners and activists across the globe are coming together to demand action on the debt crisis on a scale not seen in a generation. Because Jubilee 2025 is a once in a generation opportunity to demand debt cancellation.

That’s why I’m writing today, to ask if you could chip in £5 ([link removed]) to power up our campaigning at this crucial time.

Yes, I can chip in ([link removed])
A donation today could make a real impact for those living on the front line of the debt crisis, in countries like Ethiopia, South Sudan and Kenya. We know that change is possible when we stand strong together – because we’ve seen it time and again.

Our campaigning together through the last Jubilee Year – Jubilee 2000 – led to a massive $130 billion in debt cancellation for lower-income countries. The impact was huge.

Millions more children got to have an education. Thousands more mothers could safely give birth to their babies. All because people power works. That's as true this Jubilee 2025 as it was 25 years ago.

friend, could you donate today ([link removed]) to boost our people power in this critical year? It only takes a minute.

This summer, thousands of people round the world will be protesting at key international meetings while decision-makers discuss the debt crisis. We must make sure our voices are heard by those in power.

And with 90% of the debts owed by lower-income countries to private lenders being overseen by UK law, we have a key role to play, here in the UK. Thank you making sure we can make an impact!

In solidarity,

PS It’s now even easier to donate to strengthen our campaigning ([link removed]) – you can use PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay, or just enter your card details as before.
friend – the world feels pretty tumultuous right now.

Just a few weeks ago, Trump unleashed a trade war that has rocked the global economy. For the 54 countries in debt crisis, it’s yet another blow – making it harder for them to make debt payments, and pushing them towards cutting spending on vital public services even further.

In the face of injustice, it’s so often easy to feel powerless. But in moments like this we must remember the strength we have when we act together.

This year is Jubilee 2025. The last Jubilee Year – Jubilee 2000 – still stands as testament to the strength of people power. Right across the world, committed and compassionate people mobilised for debt justice and together we won $130 billion in debt cancellation for lower-income countries.

This year, global campaigners are mobilising once more. And history shows us that if we stay strong, act together, and keep our voice for justice loud, our impact could be huge.

friend, could you chip in £5 today ([link removed]) to power our campaigns in this key Jubilee Year. Let’s seize this opportunity to drive real change for those affected by unjust debt!

Yes, I can chip in ([link removed])
This is the biggest global debt crisis in over 30 years. The poorest countries in the world are being drained of the money they need for essential services, in order to make debt repayments to some of the world’s richest banks and hedge funds. 32 countries in Africa are spending more on debt repayments than on healthcare!

But here in the UK, we have the power to make a real difference. 90% of the debts owed by lower-income countries to private lenders are overseen by UK law. That means a change to the law here could force greedy lenders to cancel unfair debts.

This would be massive for countries in debt crisis! Freeing up vital funds to invest in healthcare, education, and tackling the climate crisis. And if our voice and our campaigns stay strong, it’s within our grasp.

Thanks to the support of people like you, we’ve already got Labour to commit to “tackling unsustainable debt” in lower-income countries. And we’ve brought the ‘Debt Relief’ bill to parliament. Now we need to use the opportunity of the Jubilee Year to push the campaign over the line. By donating today, you could help make that happen.

A generation ago, Debt Justice campaigners like you won massive change through Jubilee 2000. Millions more children got to have an education. Thousands more mothers could safely give birth to their babies. We must never forget that people power works – a fact that's as true this Jubilee 2025 as it was 25 years ago.

Thank you for being part of our movement,
