Email from Enough Is Enough #ProtectKidsOnline   Catch Donna on CNN Monday Morning in Response to Tomorrow's Signing of the Take It Down Act by President Trump Catch EIE's Donna Rice Hughes Monday morning on CNN (6 AM hour) as she reacts to the Take It Down Act which heads to President Trump's desk tomorrow to be signed into law during a signing ceremony at the White House. The bipartisan bill, championed by First Lady Melania Trump as part of her renewed "Be Best" initiative, targets a growing crisis driven by the rise of deepfake technology and online harassment. The Take It Down Act criminalizes the publication of non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII), including AI-generated NCII (or “deepfake revenge pornography”), and requires social media and similar websites to remove such content within 48 hours of notice from a victim. This critical piece of legislation passed the House 409-2 on April 29th. Monday's signing of the Take It Down Actis a win for survivors of "deepfakes" and all who championed its passage, including Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Rep. Maria Salazar (R- FL), Rep. Madeline Dean (D-PA), First Lady Melania Trump, and the countless advocates who made this possible. Enough Is Enough has strongly advocated for the passage of this critical legislation, including making it a central tenet in the EIE 2024 Children's Internet Safety Presidential Pledge backed by over 60 organizations and survivor leaders—urging the aggressive enforcement, funding, and expansion of laws against AI-generated abuse.
