Hi, it’s Ghazala Hashmi, the Democrat running for Virginia Lieutenant Governor. 

I had to write to you about this terrifying development in the fight for reproductive freedom:

Operation Save America is an extremist militant group fighting to criminalize abortion. They want women who get abortions to go to prison – or possibly even receive the death penalty!

This may seem like a radical fringe group, but according to NPR, because of Roe v. Wade being overturned, their voices are now entering the mainstream. 

This is precisely why I’m fighting so hard to protect reproductive freedom for Virginians. And it’s why I authored legislation to enshrine the right to contraception into law.

But just recently, Glenn Youngkin vetoed my right to contraception bill, despite a majority of Virginians supporting it! 

So I’m running for Lieutenant Governor because if our current leaders aren’t going to stand up for reproductive freedom, I will.
