Friends,
Gov. Bob Ferguson is taking a victory lap in the Tri-Cities this week, signing 11 bills and grinning for cameras. But here’s what he’s not talking about: bills that rip away parental rights, destabilize health care, and make businesses pay for protests against themselves.
Let’s start with House Bill 1296. They call it “student safety and privacy.” We call it a parental rights nightmare. It lets schools hide medical decisions made by minors from their parents—no oversight, no accountability. If that doesn’t raise red flags, even federal agencies are now investigating Washington’s education bureaucracy.
Next up: Senate Bill 5083. This one caps payments to health care providers while pushing insurance costs up. Translation? Fewer clinics. Longer waits. Less care.
With a May 20 deadline to sign the budget, Ferguson is silent on the big-ticket items. But as long as the headlines are friendly, he’s happy to keep voters in the dark.
Unlike mainstream media outlets, Shift WA is here to tell the truth, connect the dots, and push back on this nonsense. We can’t do it without your support.
Chip in today to keep exposing the madness in Olympia. Every dollar counts.
Let’s shift the conversation—before it’s too late.
Thank you,
The Shift WA team
