We are at a moment of reckoning. Future generations will
carefully look to see how we responded -- which path our nation
took and what role each and every American played.

We must commit ourselves as a country to eliminating deep
inequities and systemic racism in all forms and take urgent and
decisive action to transform our system of policing and overhaul
our criminal justice system.

That's why I am reaching out today to ask for your support for
the Justice in Policing Act of 2020 -- crucial legislation that
would establish mechanisms for the independent review of police
misconduct, end deadly practices like chokeholds, create a
national registry to track police abuses, and end the use of
qualified immunity -- the legal shield that has prevented police
officers from being held personally accountable for the
unjustified use of force.

Policing Act of 2020, an important first step forward to
addressing police violence and eradicating systemic racism in all
its forms. ( [link removed] )

As a country, we all have a duty to do everything in our power
to uproot and destroy racism that has been deeply embedded in so
many of our institutions and social structures. We must fully
listen to Black Americans and other communities of color and take
concrete and sustained action.

Hundreds of years of injustices have left a deep stain on our
nation, and we have much work ahead. The Justice in Policing Act
is an important first step.

Sign here to demand that Republicans work urgently with
Democrats to pass the Justice in Policing Act and begin the
urgent process of transforming policing in America.

While this bill is a crucial step--it must be the first of many
more to follow.

Thank you for your commitment to the fight for justice and
equality,
