Friend,

Honoring Heroes in the Heartland.

That was the theme of this year’s Indiana State Fair – and it was a huge
success! Our goal was to pay tribute to the heroism of everyday Hoosiers -- the
folks whose exceptional commitment and care enrich our lives without the
benefit of capes, costumes or superpowers.

We’re talking about Hoosier farmers, first responders, teachers, law officers,
firefighters, and Armed Forces members past and present.

Gov. Holcomb made multiple stops at the fair – including bringing pizza to
State Police on duty, taking part in a Q&A at the Harvest Dinner, and, of
course, he enjoyed some great fair food!

Most importantly, he signed HEA 1010, which eliminates state income tax on
military retirement and survivor’s benefits – just another way we are honoring
our Hoosier heroes.

And First Lady Janet Holcomb also had a busy schedule, which included
highlighting Hoosier agriculture (like WINNING the Celebrity Grape Stomp and
participating in the Cow Milking Contest) and thanking our homeland security
leaders who are always prepared to handle emergencies.

We can’t wait for next year’s State Fair. Mark your calendars for August 7-23,
2020!
