Rep. Pramila Jayapal’s Paycheck Recovery Act gives employers grants to bring workers off unemployment and back onto their health insurance. Similar programs stopped mass unemployment in Denmark, Australia, and Germany.
But conservative Democrat Rep. Josh Gottheimer still won’t support it. Instead, he wants to bail out private equity firms and payday lenders.
