When I cared for my late husband Andy through his cancer, I learned just how fragile life becomes without reliable care.
On Thursday, I rose on the House floor to tell Caroline’s story — a young woman from Newark with a rare condition who told me that without Medicaid, she could die.
And she’s not alone.
The Republican majority has proposed the largest health care rollback in American history. If they succeed, 14 million people will lose coverage, including 1 in 4 of my neighbors in Delaware. That’s cruelty, plain and simple.
And why? To pay for a tax scam to make the rich even richer. Their plan adds red tape, guts coverage, and even pushes a backdoor abortion ban. All while forcing families to pay more for less.
When I cared for my late husband Andy through his cancer, I learned just how fragile life becomes without reliable care. And right now, for Caroline and millions across our country, it’s life or death.
That’s why I rose on the House floor, and it’s why I’m fighting back like hell to protect the care millions depend on.
Will you rush a contribution of whatever makes sense to you to help us continue building a powerful grassroots opposition against the GOP’s Medicaid cuts?
I didn’t come to Congress to rubber-stamp cruelty. I came to fight for every Delawarean — for people like Caroline.
That’s why I’m sounding the alarm. Because health care is a human right. And no person should have to beg or barter for the care they need.
But I need you with me, because the truth is we’re up against powerful forces who’d rather hand tax breaks to billionaires than keep people with disabilities, kids, and seniors alive.
So please, pitch in what you can today and let’s defend Medicaid, together.
