Here are a few things that are top-of-mind here at Team Eric:

Eric is the most at-risk Democratic House member in Illinois. Prominent election watchers have all identified IL-17 as a key battleground that could decide House control. Eric is once again on the frontlines of the efforts to turn the Midwest blue.

We have an opponent. A self-funding Republican challenger has filed paperwork to unseat Eric, and been seen courting CPAC officials. The bottom line: our race is already picking up, and at a time when the White House has been hijacked by extremists, the last thing we need is another MAGA hardliner in Congress rubber stamping these attacks on working families.

The NRCC is escalating its attacks against Eric. They’re already treating him like one of their top targets, and they continue to pump out social media attacks with false smears. We need to push back against these early attacks.

It’s been a slower than expected fundraising month. As the weather gets nicer, we are admittedly seeing a down month in grassroots fundraising so far. Our numbers need to tick up, and we’re hoping YOU can help us get back on track.

One critical lesson I learned from Eric is that we need to build a war chest sooner – before the election year – rather than leave it to chance. That’s why Eric is som committed to doing the work now, and making sure every voter is seen. In a swing district like ours, it’s important that we don’t fall short early.
